Alterations
Bridal alterations in Guelph
Wedding gowns, lehengas and bridal party outfits, altered by hand until they fit exactly right. Over twenty years at the table, on Gordon Street in Guelph.
No two brides and no two dresses are the same. Every gown is assessed on you, in person, before anything is pinned, and you get an honest answer about what the dress can and cannot do before any work begins.
Satin, lace, tulle and heavily beaded lehenga fabric each behave differently, and none of them behave like everyday clothing. That is the difference between a tailor who takes bridal work and a tailor who specialises in it.
Why us
Why Guelph brides choose us
Twenty years of it
From a boutique in New Delhi to a studio on Gordon Street: bridal work the whole way.
Two traditions, one table
Western gowns and South Asian bridal wear, fitted with the same care. Few studios do both.
A price before we start
Confirmed at your first fitting. Nothing is begun before you have agreed to it.
Rush work taken
Wedding in two weeks? Ask. We will tell you honestly whether it can be done well.
What we do
Every garment on the day, not just the gown
Wedding gowns
Bodice take-ins, straps, bustles, hemming to your heel height, and structural reinforcement where a gown needs it.
Lehengas & sarees
Blouse stitching, lehenga fitting and saree pre-draping, so it is ready to step into on the morning.
The wedding party
Bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, prom and formal wear, fitted to the same standard.

What it costs
Bridal work varies more than any other alteration, so the only honest number is a starting point. Your price is confirmed at the first fitting, before anything begins.
Heavy beadwork, corsetry and full restructuring are quoted on the garment. Same-day and rush work is available. Ask.
Wedding this month?
Call and we will tell you honestly
A hem or a take-in can often be done the same day. Beadwork cannot. Better to hear that now than in two weeks.

What brides say
Gunit tailored my wedding dress PERFECTLY. It was made of this beautiful satin fabric with a sheer mesh back. She was able to alter the mesh so seamlessly and make it look like this dress was custom made for me. The price is also very affordable.
She is an expert seamstress and took care of me as Mother of the Bride and altered my dress to perfection. She took my husband’s tux and tailored it to fit just right. My daughter’s bridesmaid dress was also altered perfectly.
I brought my dress in two weeks before the wedding, and very worried I would not be able to wear it as it barely zipped and the pockets looked horrible. When I came to try it on, not only did it zip up with ease, it looked perfect!
The studio
Meet Gunit
I treat every gown as if it were my own. I designed my first dresses at my mother's boutique in Patiala, built my own in New Delhi in 2016, and moved it to Guelph in 2023. Every bride gets the same answer from me: what the dress can do, what it cannot, and what it will cost, before I begin.

Questions
Asked most often
If yours is not here, call. We would rather answer it now than have you guess.
How far in advance should I book?
About two months before the wedding. If your timeline is tighter, call. Rush work is often possible and we will tell you honestly if it is not.
How many fittings will I need?
One to three for most brides. Extensive resizing or added embellishment can take up to five.
What should I bring to the first fitting?
The dress, the shoes, the undergarments you will wear, and anyone whose opinion you actually want in the room.
